Spiritual Growth | Lo, I Saw A Man Running ...

Today I saw a man running.
I see him ever so often jogging up and down a familiar street by my home. Eyebrows furrowed, focused; beads of sweat dripping down his face. The first time I saw him, I could only focus on his deficiency.
You see the man that I saw running... only had one arm.
There were so many times I would say to myself, "It looks so odd, so stubby, so crippling." I almost felt bad for him - wondering what happened and why life had been so misfortunate to him. I made up stories and scenarios about his pretend endeavors and escapades...
Ever since that first day, I've consistently seen him- running, pushing past his limitations...
But today when I saw him, I saw something different, something... encouraging.

I saw HOPE. I saw STRENGTH. I saw PERSEVERANCE.
He was LIMITLESS.
In that moment, in a man I didn't know at all...
I saw myself.
Each doppelgänger staring one another in the face. Where I've been, where I am, and where I'm going...
There have been moments recently, when I've considered myself to be what I originally saw in that man -- a deficient, incapable, handicapped, and limited individual. Talking down on myself, discouraging myself, letting my fear cripple my capabilities.
But TODAY I believe GOD himself revealed to me who I'm destined to be. As STRONG , as DETERMINED , as ENDURING , as LIMITLESS as.... he is.
For God said:
Do not remember the past events, pay no attention to the things of the old .
Look, I am doing a new thing, even now it is coming.
Do you not see it?
Indeed, I will make a way in the
wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
- Isaiah 43: 18 & 19
It never ceases to amaze me how GOD can use the most peculiar people and situations as a catalyst for his glory.
Don't let fear of failure or feelings of inadequacy keep you from reaching your full potential. It is better to push and persevere than to wain and wonder away from your dreams. We all have the potential to be and do anything that we put our minds to.
Just like the man running...
Let us run this race with endurance, the race that lies before us,
Keeping our eyes on Jesus.
- Hebrews 12:12
